New Column Planted Tank - 47 gal Marineland

I am getting ready to aquascape a 47 gal column planted tank. Tank is 20w x 18d x 30h. I realize this is not a size you see very often, but I like the look of a column tank and it fits my available space.

I was thinking about only filling it to 24" deep and have some kind of water feature towards the top and some foliage above water level. Not sure what you call this style of aquascape, but if anyone has any experience in ths area or knows of some useful links, I would appreciate the help.

I have a 24 dimmable DIY LED fixture for the light fixture and it will totally enclose the top of the tank (has ventilation fan). I have a Marineland C-360 for filtration.
