My canister (Eheim Ecco 2234) is louder inside my cabinet than out... the vibrations are amplified by the wood/hollow inside. I put a layer of foam on the bottom of the cabinet to help dampen the buzzing a bit! Otherwise it's very quiet.

I have a Fluval 306 -- I have to open the cabinet and really listen to hear it. Super quiet. I'm about to put a Fluval 206 on a 20-gallon tank in my bedroom.

All filter are quiet. Doesn't matter what brand it is.
The vibrations is the cause of noise, those lilo rubber ball each filter use to stay quiet doesn't really work. When I sit my canister on carpet I can't hear a thing. When I move them under the stand I can hear the a loud noise. Try putting something under the canister |
