Tools for the brackish tank.

I can't find anywhere the tools needed for brackish tanks. Most will corrode in salty water.

Any suggestions out there for us who are a bit saltier?

I would love to find something available to prune plants, to "rake" the sand they live and grow in.

Thanks!

If you clean your tools when you're done with them it may help. You could probably wipe them down with vegetable oil after cleaning them to prevent corrosion.

I've never done this but vegetable oil is non toxic so I don't see any reason why the fish would be affected.

I used to work for a tree service that ran vegetable oil instead of bar oil in the chainsaws to keep from contaminating plants and animals.

Just hit up retailers and websites that cater to reef/marine tankers.

I use cheap plastic spatulas for tooling around the sand in both salt and freshwater.

Regular stainless steel scissors work really well. Just rinse them off and dry then when you're finished.
