You'll want Mbunas to take advantage of the rock scape... and that's about the limit of my knowledge about african cichlids.

Mbuna will be colorful for sure - yellow labs and electric blues always get the ooohs and ahhhs, but they don't grow especially large and they do require water with a high pH.
They'll also breed like crazy and spend a lot of time poking around the rocks to hide. Tank looks good - Africans don't usually destroy plants for fun like SA cichlids, so you could get away with live plants if the client chooses to have them in the future. |

Big and colorful..sound like a Malawi setup. Go with an all hap/peacock setup.

thanks everyone, looks like we're going with mostly mbunas. they would mostly hang around the rocks. any other fish that would swim around the top that would be able to handel themselves and okay in hard water?

OMGGGGGG I love it !!! its soo sooo soooo nice
How big is the thank? If its big enough Id say get a few venutus, because their pattern would match the rockwork, and also get some Peacocks like sunshine, ruby-red etc. Acei would also go in there very well ! Magnificient 11

What size tank? A combination of Demasoni and yellow labs is always stunning.
