Boiling BBA

Not sure if this is actually BBA or not, but It is ALL over my java ferns, which are attached to a nice piece of driftwood I want to use in my new tank (I started a journal on here today for 36g bow front). I am willing to sacrifice the plants in order to use the wood, and was thinking of boiling it so I doesn't transfer any of the spores or whatever into the new tank, will this work and is it even necessary?
