Dead tank, redo with rocks
Well after a major blackout for a month, I'm redoing my shrimp tank. It's a small 5.5 gallon. Currently has just black petco sand as a substrate and a couple pieces of drift wood. It has been running for over a year with two resident Otos and rcs.
I have some java moss and a banana plant...that's it as of now. I'm going to pull the drift wood out because I don't like it. I live on the beach, so I'm going to go look for a few rocks to redo the tank with...my question is, will boiling the rocks be enough to take the salt and other nondesirables out? Any rocks to look out for? |

Just went out to the beach with a flashlight and found a few pieces of granite. Boiled and they're cooling now. One has a high feldspar content. Should be fine right?
