Making slits in glass
Going with my previous filter idea however i need to make a "grate" in the glass... Thinking i will have to drill multiple holes, however dremel has a 360 degree bit that says you can rasp larger holes, would it work to create the below?

I agree. holes yes but slits are doubtful.

If you're dead set on making it out of glass rather than acrylic (i don't know why you would), make a mock up out of acrylic and make sure the holes are enough for the flow that you are planning on. Even just doing holes, you're still likely to break it.
