MGOC and PFS?
I've seen several threads talking about the two of these individually but never in a system together (that or my search skills suck). Does anyone have any experience running MGOC (apx 1 1/2 - 2") under 1 - 2" PFS substrate?
I initially considered running Eco-complete under PFS but neglected to consider the settling of the PFS into and potentially under the Eco-complete. I figured running a layer of MGOC under the PFS would provide the nutrients needed without running root tabs due to PFS being inert. Thoughts?

Depends on other factors such as CO2, and lighting. You are going low tech, BUT combined with a good substrate(the dirt) medium lighting, and a heavily planted tank, you can do more species of plants than you would think without CO2.
