How to keep Crypt Spiral from taking over?

I'm having to tear down my existing tank because after a year, Crypt Spiralis spread like crazy and took over the tank. I'd still like to incorporate Crypt Spiralis in the tank but how can I keep it from sending out roots to every corner of my tank?

Try pulling some up when it begin's to get out of hand or spreading to unwanted area's.
Is what I do with crypt balansae.

Bury a clay pot in the substrate so it can't spread beyond that border. Or just keep on top of the runners while they are small.

I agree with the clay pot, it'll keep a good barrier that the roots wont be able to cross
