I have been working on this new product line concept for a long time. We considered several different product line names and settled with Verdant Aquarium as our favorite choice. Watch out for more Verdant Aquarium plant and fish care products in coming months.

Decided to try these after seeing your RAOK. Ive been looking for an alternative because im sick of the osmocote plus pushing thru MY substrate.

Yeah I've tried the plastic prill type ferts before and I didn't like them because the little empty shells would get loose and float away. I actually lost a group of killies once that ate them and perished. I imagine they thought they were eggs.

Received my gro tabs.
I've used 2 so far and I'm checking parameters everyday. If everything continues to test well I'll add two more next water change and so forth.
I put one under my Aflame echinodorus, and Red devil echinodorus.
You diffenetly want to insert them fast, they do start to disintegrate.

Hey I'll be interested to hear how your swordplants respond.

Yes it is important to position the tabs before they soften in the water.

I've noticed a deffinet difference in growth. My Aflame's new growth hits my driftwood now. Thats about a 3" difference.
This is a great alternative to the prill ferts. I will diffenetly buy more in the future.

The Aflame is over 5 months old in this pic (for my tank). This was average growth.


This pic is a month after inserting your gro soil tabs. I've never seen this plant reach this high. It is starting a new leaf and it will be interesting to see if its going to reach higher.


I have placed all the tabs now. I never noticed any parameter changes or algae outbreaks.

Thanks for posting those. That is a wild color that plant has.

The gro soil tabs work like a thin topsoil underlayer. So long as you keep them covered with substrate they should have no significant effect on water parameters.

I just have to say I love how well these root tabs work . Here is a before and after of my 29 gallon high tech tank that was doing poorly before. Also, a picture of my rubin sword growth with some very deep red coloring compared to the old green leaves.

29 gallon FTS as of 2/23/13 (eco-complete substrate)


29 gallon as of today. The crypt. 'Florida Sunset' sends out at least two new leaves a week. Also, the ludwigia inclinata 'cuba' in the center was only half the tank height a week ago.

Hey that looks great! Thanks so much for posting that. Did you use a whole 18-pack in there?

The gro soil tabs are a great way to turn that inert pool filter sand into a bio-active growing substrate.

Thanks and no problem . The 29 gallon has 10 tabs in the display tank and a few more in the refugium. The rest had to go into the 20 gallon with the pool filter sand since it was due for root tabs again. At some point I'll have to order more to have them on hand since I now know how well they work.

That is interesting. Is that related to bacteria inhabiting the areas close to the plant roots, or something else?

I received the RAOK....thank you. I'll be doing an experiment in my Crypt Nurii tank. I put two tabs in the glass container right at the front of the tank....the two pots in the back received nothing. All these crypts are grown in ADA soil with powdered almond leaves added in layers. Let's see what happens.
