I need a 30" light fixture for a 20" deep 36 gallon tank

Hello forum-

I've had my 36 gallon bow front tank for about a year and I really want to get some plants growing in it. I've been searching this forum and a few other places looking for a suitable fixture (preferably LED but any suggestions accepted) to provide medium light to my tank. So far I've found nothing that seems to fit. Here are some facts about what I'm dealing with and what I'm looking for:

• Top of the tank is 30" wide
• About 19 -20" from top of tank to substrate
• Want to cover the bottom with enough light to promote most plant growth
• Would like to spend < $300, preferably ~$200
• Have a pressurized CO2 system that I plan to run when the lights are on
• Currently have 12 smallish fish that have been happy in the tank for about a year
• Currently have a few plants (anubias, amazon sword, argentine sword, etc.) but they are growing very slowly and some are dropping leaves.

My main problem is that every fixture I can find is either 24" or 36" wide. Any suggestions are welcome.

Finnex has a 30" Ray2, its currently out of stock though. Lowe told me they should be back in stock on the 15th of this month if you cant wait that long!

I have a 36 Tall tank 30"L x 22"H x 12"D. I currently run a 7000k Power Compact along with a traditional strip light as well. I have a goog luck with this so far. Good Luck!

That's good news. That was the one fixture that looked promising but when I saw it was out of stock I just assumed that was forever. Thanks for the info!

Since you have Co2 I highly recommend the Finnex Ray2 also. Check my 36 bow in my signature, that the lower power 30" Fugeray with no Co2

I think I may end up going with the regular fugeray as well, unless they do in fact have a 30" Ray2. I just now emailed them for more info.

Nice tank setup by the way. Are your anubias still doing ok hanging on the wall like that? If so I might try something similar. I have that same tank with a different stand. About to go install my new glass top and the Co2. Than I just need some decent light and I'll be set.

I have debated between the fugeray and the ray2 myself. I felt I should spend my money on the newer 'shiny' ray2 though... lol
