I'm moving to Ohio in a month!
Hey guys, I am moving to Ohio. Where might the best LFS's be located?

Where in Ohio are you moving to? I'm sure other member can chime in then and tell you the best for that area.

Yep! I have moved twice already in the last 2 months. With this third time, it will be once per month. My grandfather is not doing so well, so we are moving to help take care of him. Plus, California is HOT.

Welcome to the great state of Ohio where in the morning you will need to turn the heat on, the afternoon turn the air on and the evening have a storm with wind, hail & rain...but I love it here!
Hope to swap some plants with you! Aquarium Adventure in Columbus is probably the largest store in Ohio but you also have your Petlands, PetSmarts and Mom & Pop shops..nothing like Cali though, I'm sure. Again...Welcome!

Unfortunately its a bit of a haul up to Columbus from marietta (about two hours) but aquarium adventure has some great plants as long as you are ok with hitchhikers. Other things there can be a bit to pricey for me but select things are cool and still reasonably priced. Other things are marked up insanely

A little late here, but I can tell you that most of SE ohio is overrun by Petco, after they bought out (Dayton,OH based) Complete Petmart.
I don't know that there's many mom-and-pop shops around the area anymore after Complete Petmart out-competed a lot of them. Most the rural towns didn't have enough population to support both. |

I would also look at West Virginia (Parkersburg...?)

SW Ohio has a couple really good shops.. All About Pets in West Chester has a lot of great deals on used filters and aquariums. Aquatics and Exotics in North College Hill (Cincinnati) is probably one of the nicest fish stores I've ever been to. The club (Greater Cincinnati Aquarium Society GCAS.org) is a very active club, hosting the ACA twice in recent history and has a very large member count. Worth a drive during the gloomy winter that's quickly approaching.

I haven't been to All About Pets... wasn't a huge fan of Aquatics & Exotics when I went. My favorite in the Cincinnati area has been by far Monfort Aquarium.

Gerbers in Dayton is in a sort of rough area but is a great store. Always deals on filters and aquariums. Not a lot of plants but plenty of neat fish in the fresh water section it is two sections with a large salt water area if you also keep a reef. Its in Moraine more specifically not sure if its near you.

I like walking around Gerbers as well. Always a lot of neat live stock. It's fun if you get there when they feed the large fish in the fresh water section.
