Help identifying disease with OTO


Here is a picture of my OTO. The scales are turning white and not exactly sure what it has or how to cure if you could please take a look and help. Thank you in advance!!

It might be cotton fungus in it's early stages.

I have green neon tetras that all seem to be normal and cherry red shrimp that stay far away from the oto
How would I treat this as I do not have a qt tank and most chemicals are going to be harsh on the shrinp

I would get a cheap glass fish bowl from the Lfs. Catch as may shrimp as possible and place them in the bowl with a tiny heater and a air stone. You will have to do wc's every couple days. Treat the main tank.

If the fluffs are coming out from between the scales, treat like a Gram negative bacteria infection.
If those are individual spots, or several spots grouped together then treat for Ich.

thank you for the advise. It is weird I did a water change today and the white areas on his side went away but there is still one directly behind his head

Thanks for everyones help. The OTO had fungus and unfortunately had to be replaced.
