Awesome! Thanks! I wasn't sure if the one spot of red changed the name.

Beautiful black devils you got there!

still no spawn. its annoying. they get another 24 hours with the anubias removed, and if they still dont spawn im bring in another pair.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is day 3? Usually by day 4 they start spawning.

really? theyre parents spawned before 48 hours were up. and the spawn before that spawned by 76 hours.
plus im an impatient person to begin with.
but they are showing increasing signs of activity now. the female even went all the way up to the nest before running away. i do think the anubias was delaying the process. they could go for hours without seeing each other with that thing in there.
hopefully they will spawn by tomorrow, o at least the day after. otherwise, pair B is up.

the parents of pair B are the same as of this pair. my import black orchid male, and USA bred female.
which fish pair b will be, i havent decide yet. either my DR black orchid male Phobetor and a black orchid female (whichever), or my DR devil male Erebus and the shedevil.

not sure what you consider standard. there are:
SR - single ray. like Icelos.
DR - double ray, like Erebus (see pic on top of this page)
balog - a subcategory of DR, Phantosos is an excellent example, thats why i want to use him to breed
DDR - double double ray, AKA quadruple ray. here is an example

wow. Nice betta. Betta have evolved so much for when I had them.
OP just want to ask how many offspring do you normally get to adulthood from one spawn? I breed them, I could not get more than 2 at a time and was wondering is I am doing something wrong previouslly.

if you cant get more than 2 to survive from the spawn, you are probably doing something wrong, or something is in your water.
last spawn i got over 300 fish to maturity, but that was an exceptionally large spawn. i never lost more than 10 fish in a spawn, the rest all made it. one spawn only had 40 fish or so to start out with, so i only got 30 something, but didnt lose many either.

the two didnt mate. fed the male, pulled out the female and put a different one in. they have 72-96 hours to dazzle me or im pulling both out and using a different male with the original female.

its all about nutrition and water quality. baby brine shrimp are you biggest friends. most people use that as a staple, and they can really give you some massive growth and health in the fish. along with massive daily water changes and you get all the fry to adulthood in 2-3 months.
the new female and phantosos are not hanging out at all. the female is hiding constantly, and he cant find her, so he lost interest in the nest an just cruises around the tank. im gonna leave em for 24 more hours cuz why not, but i dont expect anything from phantosos anymore.
ill tag in his brother in a day or two, and then give him one of the females to hopefully get some fry.

Erebus looks good too. Maybe you'll have better luck with him.

I'll stop polluting your post and start PMing you about other details.
