If they came from the same batch, yes.

The unique thing about blue velvets is that the red fades away almost 100% of the time by juvie age, and certanly by adult age.

Any time you have a dark substrate with neos, the colors will become darker as the shrimp tries to "blend" in more.

Yes, dark substrate ALWAYS helps their colors pop- especially the blues.

msjinkzd - How frequently did your Caridina Spinata's breed?

They were slow breeders for me, and had smaller broods- about 15-20 young as opposed to 30+ for neos. I dont' know that my params were spot on, and I was workin with wild shrimp.

How often did they berry?

errm, i don't have any recollection at all- but it was a couple months between berries for sure

Darn...I'm getting excited for them to breed! haha

They seem to be liking it in the tank with the cherry shrimp. Would you pull them out to their own tank or leave them with the cherries since they seem to be doing well?

I wouldn't rock the boat if they are doing well.

When not doing well, they get very inactive and stop picking at plants/food

yepper. If you have some that have adapted to different conditions than what other people have, you may "tip the ship" by messin' around too much with parameters.

On the other hand, sometimes to get them to breed you need to try some different things. So really, it's half a dozen of one, half a dozen of another. (Jeesh- how many cliches can I put in this post!?)
