I just recently read an article that was online, i forget the website, but basically it said that the same plants grown under soft water conditions will grow dramatically faster than plants grown under hard water conditions. He gave one example of java moss filling up a 100 G tank in 6 months versus java moss only doubling in clump size in hardwater conditions. I'm wondering if anyone else knows this to be true from experience, or whatever? Thanks for listening.

Depends on a lot of factors... which plants, light intensity, fertilizer regimen... I found that if no CO2 is added, plants in soft water grow better or equal to plants in hard water. When adding CO2, I noticed the bigger difference in hard water. But these are generalizations, and what's true in one tank for Java Moss might be totally different in a different tank for Aponogeton madagascariensis
