Copper sulfate and shrimp?
Hello, the forgetful me bought a new large amount of fish flakes and I completely forgot that shrimp and copper do not mix. So after opening and the food at home I read the 50 or so ingredients and the last is copper sulfate. My new shrimp will be coming in soon. What is copper sulfate and will it be deadly if I use it to feed my endlers and shrimps?

Shrimp and large amounts of copper like the dosage amounts of copper found in Ich meds, parasite meds, etc don't usually mix.
Copper from food is a very very very small amount, even indicated by the fact that it's the last ingredient in your food list, meaning it's the smallest percentage. Most plants that people feed have small amounts of copper, most pellets, wafers, etc have small amounts of copper. Your shrimp should be fine as 90% of what most people feed their shrimp has small traces of copper in it, and shrimp probably need that small amount like other trace minerals. This was brought up in a thread I started a while ago, here's a read. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=178476

Thank you very much! shrimp keeping definitely requires some (a lot) of learning via trial and error or questioning.
