Honeycomb Cats!
|
You're getting honeycombs? Where'd you manage to find them?
As for how they like to be kept... 10-20 gallon tanks. Smaller (but not too small) is better, otherwise they will hide all the time and disappear. Driftwood is a MUST, and not manziata sticks, they need crevices to hide in. I've also heard of people using small PVC pipe as a home for them. As for how many... they don't seem to shoal or school at all. In fact, they can get territorial in the sense that they don't like others coming in their favorite spot. Maybe buy 3, because they just look so wonderful and they do seem to do better with others. They stay around 2" for most of their lives, and max out less than 3". They're slighty bigger than rummynose. Everyone who's thinking about it should absolutely buy the honeycombs!

You're welcome!
I'd never seen one of these Zebra Oto's in person before, so I'm quite impressed with the size of them. They seem about full grown & much more mature than the O. vittatus I picked up from PetSmart back in July. My O. vittatus are about 1/3 the size of the Zebras. The Zebras also seem to be brave & out in the open all of the time. My O. vittatus seem scared & just hide underneath a crypt in the shade & flip out with any movement close to the tank like just walking by. I'm starting to favor the Zebras over the vittatus in every category at this point & I've only had them for a couple hours now!

They should be! Supposed to come in next tuesday, but Peru can be unpredictable so I won't actually know until I get sent my airbill number then the flurry of paperwork begins
I will know exactly how much they will be one I see the final freight numbers, cannot even guess until then as Peru freight is very expensive and really effects teh price o the fish. I would guess they would be aroung $5-6 |

Not yet, my distributor in Iquitos got pneumonia- hoping for either saturday or monday. It has been REALLY rainy there, making collection of small fish especially difficult to compound his issues. Ah, the fun of importing

oh sadness... i do hope you get your shipment soon! also question, noticed you're going to get some asian nanos in as well, from another thread- per chance will Boraras merah be making the list? 4 of mine decided to suicide dive, and my OCD tendencies are telling me to buy 4 more. heck, why not 9? :P
