Have you been breeding these in municipal water, or are you using RO?

RO water with fluval mineral additive. GH 5 KH 0 . I tried tap water and they would be fine for months, then the city would add something to the water, and i would have large die offs. I finally spent the $79 dollars on a ro unit and have not had any more problems.

I should visit you for frags/shrimp, and then visit ykh (apparently close to your area too) and do the same thing, lol...

I have this one from pure water club. http://www.purewaterclub.com/catalog...roducts_id=264 You just have to watch ebay or wait for it to go on sale. I have had it for about 18 months. It gives me about 3 tds water. My source water is about 440 tds with a ton of iron. I am pretty happy with it. No problems so far.

Is RO water a must for CRS?I have 4 cherries with 6 fry that are maturing quite nicely.They are in Chicago tap water treated with just Prime(Flourish for plants).Should I NEED RO before getting CRS?

I have found that the CRS do NOT do well in Chicago water. My have withered away slowly and I finally re-homed mine to someone with RO water. We're about to move and I plan on putting in an RO system in the house we're moving to and giving it another go. For the CRS, do people use pure RO or add a bit of hardness to the water? Or do the shrimp get their minerals from the food or supplements?

A container of that should last for a very long time.
