Will my tank burst into flames?

I have a standard Coralife T5 48" strip on my 55g that, until today, had a 10K and a 28W t5. The fixture was warm but didn't melt or overheat the tank.

I want to put in two Phillips T5HO 54W bulbs. Do I need a new fixture? I would hate to have ANOTHER loud fan running in the house and I don't want to spend more money if I absolutely don't have to.

T5HO bulbs will not work in your current fixture.

I don't find the fan an issue unless you're running this at night time. If you're handy you can probably replace it with a quieter one.

I wouldn't put them in your current fixture. I would get a new fixture

Well, they seem to work as in turn on okay.

The fan on my four bulb over the 75G is loud as heck. I'm handy, but I don't have electrical skills, so I don't want to risk shorting something out.

I'll probably go with:

Merry Christmas to me, I guess.
