Root tabs for eco complete + pygmy chain swords?

I have about 30 pygmy chain swords in a 3" deep substrate of eco complete. Should I put some root tabs down or wait?

Tank is an aqueon evolve 8 so 12" deep tank with 2500 something par of led lighting.

The pygmy chain sword is looking a little pathetic, but that could be due to stress from the cycle.

Are you dosing any ferts to the water column...go ahead some root tabs

Yeah I am using flourish at less then the specified amount on the bottle as well as fourish excell. Again at a very reduced rate. In addition to the chain swords, I have about 5 anubias nana petite, anubias nana, 3 narrow leaf java fern.

So how many root tabs and how far should I place them into the substrate?

Just plug them in where needed... I think it's every 3 inches...maybe 2
