I love the honesty on this forum. We've given away 1 unit and selected two other units to be given away and were kindly turned away due to them not needing or having the use for them at the moment. Special props to TexasCichlid & BeachBum for not being greedy and by doing so, making these units available to other members in need. Another member will be selected shortly. Again, special thanks and acts like such make it all the more easier to continue to support TPT and it's members!

No worries and thank you very much for the offer. If I had the need and hadn't just bought two more of your wonderful lights recently I would have jumped at the opportunity. Better to let someone who needs it get the gift.

Since I asked many questions about the Finnex Fugeray and Ray II, it's only fair that I report back on my new Fugeray 16".
The lights looks fantastic, it is much much brighter than the stock light on the Fluval Spec 5 and I believe is the appropriate choice for low-medium light on a 5G at approximately 11-12" above the substrate. Thank you all that contributed to my questions! |

My FugeRay arrived last night. I love this thing! When the bulbs go out on the lights on my 20L, I'm replacing the whole fixture with one of these.

I stuck a four foot RAY II
On my 55 along with 2x55 watt cf with A&H reflectors. Lighting looks awesome I placed the RAYII at the rear-of the tank less than a week ago the growth is amazing and no signs of algae with this combo. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

The enthusiasm in this thread is catchy! I don't have a Finnex light but I might want to join the party. I've just bought the Fluval Spec V (on sale, half price - had to) but the light switch has given me some problems. Tank is not yet cycled or planted and hope to be starting that this weekend.
Would someone mind pointing me to an exact model of Finnex that would work with this tank without any need to retrofit anything - I'm lacking in that area. I will be using the tank top so it would have to fit over that somehow with the hole in the middle. Recommended best on-line site to purchase wold also be welcomed. Thanks for any assistance. |

SueD, I also got the Fluval Spec V. I chose the Finnex FugeRay 16" which will puts ,e in the low-to- low medium light (about 30 PAR at 12" height but it sits just below 11").
The other option within the Finnex line is the Ray II 16" or 18". Though the 18" is perfect in terms of length, it will definitely put you in the lower ranges of high-light. The Ray II 16" is solidly medium light. The main point here is to determine what kind of setup and flora you want. If you're aiming for low-tech, the Fugeray 16" will likely do very well. If you're aiming for high-light, high-tech, then the Ray II is the way to go. |

STS 100: thanks for the advice. I'm looking for low tech (anubias, some crypts), so I think I will try the FugeRay 16".
