aquatek mini urgent help needed

So I am setting up my aquatek mini for the first time. I filled the included bubble counter with water (all the way up), plugged in the solenoid and VOOM a huge rush of Co2 comes out, like a ridiculous amount. so much so, that it shoved all the water out of the bubble counter and up the tubing all the way to the diffuser? wth?

(when i screwed it on, its supposed to be as tight (the reg on the 20z tank) as you can twist right? that is how I did it)
also do you need a wrench to fully tighten it?

secondly the little dial where you adjust the co2 out put, I am not sure which way to turn to reduce it? there is no arrows or nothing indicating which way to turn it.

so yeah i need some help, if anyone is using this reg.

An adjustable wrench would be good to get that extra pull that you can't achieve with your hand. They even use one on their youtube page on their 'how-to' setup video for this product.

Regarding adjusting the needle valve, typically turning it clockwise will close it, allowing less gas through it. I can't help you out though with the co2 blow-thru question though.

I'm thinking of getting one in the very near future myself.

Well on mine I twisted it all the way to the right to close the valve. Then I slowly turned it left to get the desired rate. I don't have it working right now because the tubing keeps popping off the diffuser for some reason.

The working output says 50 psi, even with the dial turned to "off" and it is not plugged in.

Is that normal?

This is probably normal; I believe this regulator has a fixed (non-adjustable) delivery pressure, so the 50 PSI is the pre-set pressure.

The needle valve is just a variable sized orifice that will further control the flow rate of the 50 PSI of gas that is being delivered by the regulator.

Darn, I got your pm earlier and thought everything was good. I'm not sure if it matters for this issue, but are you using co2 resistant tubing?

Mine stayed on with just hand tightening of the screw over the tubing, and I guarantee you don't have weaker hand strength than me! My psi is at ~51 when off.

Sorry you're having issues with it. Hope you can get it resolved!
