RO/DI water?
Hello all,
I have been in the saltwater hobby for 20+ years now, and in the middle of setting up my very first planted freshwater tank. What I'd like to know is, can I use my water I make from my RO/DI unit in my soon to be planted 90g? Or will the water be striped of needed items from the ro/di? My setup is a seven stage ro/di unit, so the output is 100% pure h2o.

You will need to remineralize it, what is your tap water like? In my case I use 70% ro/di 30% well water and that gives me a ph of 7, gh of 5 and kh of 3. Lots of people use tap depending where they are from.

I use 100% Ro for my planted tank. Never had any issues. I used to do 100% RO/DI but got tired of remineralizing it.

So it's best to just use tap water with an dechlorinator?

Surprisingly Detroit city water is some of the best water in the US.
Thanks for the answers.
