What a gorgeous tank. Your "fresh water reef" concept is so natural looking and the whole scape undulates across the tank with great rhythm and proportion.

I've already "plagiarized" your lighting approach and now I see you have the acrylic lily pipes that I was eyeballing as well. I'm concerned about the delicacy of glass and I am intrigued by the surface skimming function of this style.

How does the skimmer portion of the return work so far? Can you see a difference from the intake that you used previously? Any scratches from cleaning (mebbe too soon to tell)?

Thanks.

I hit your lighting thread, hope the thoughts help. I was concerned about shipping glass from Hong Kong myself. I decided against using the skimmer. It can simply be removed and the intake works without it. I felt it and the acrylic screen were too restrictive. So I've just using a foam pre filter over the open intake tube.

They include a tube brush. I'm going to run it through the pipes(installed) each week during W/C. Hopefully if I stay on the cleaning it won't become a problem.
I don't see much chance of scratching up the pipes.

They just don't get the attention they deserve. Really a great small fish for a planted tank. You should have seen them when they were outside in my pond last summer. The males were even more deep red and the females gold was brilliant. Hopefully they will be spawning again. I have one young female from the spawn in Oct. in the tank that's almost 1" now. I'll try to get a pic. of her

Funny you asked, I'll be cleaning the filter this coming Monday. I'll follow up then. I'm looking forward to see what they look like myself.

I cleaned the filter Monday and found the growstones to be rather clean. They were in the 2nd media basket. The Ceramic media that came with the FUVAL G3 were dirty. I put one of the larger growstones under running water and I do believe I had flow through the stone.

I switch the order of the baskets and will follow up next cleaning.

I remove the Bucephalandra 'Sintang' from the Aquaponic Growbed due to some BGA. Within minutes the female Neon Blue Goby was grazing on the Algae.
