Rearranging Established Tank

Hey guys,

Figured I'd ask a quick, noobie, question...

I've had my tank set up for months now, have a pretty good colony of RCS and CPD's going on. However, since originally setting it up, I've acquired some new plants and driftwood.

That being said, I'd like to rearrange the tank and have a new setup. But with all the shrimplets, and having my CPD's breeding, do you think it would be best to just do the trimmings and move on?

If not, what would be the best way to redo everything? Leave the fish/shrimp in the tank with some water and just work away? Or should I take everything out and basically start from scratch?

Any advice/tips are appreciated.

Just do the trimmings and move on. Or maybe change things super-slowly over the course of several weeks, trying to disturb the substrate as little as possible.

Any dust up of ammonia or nitrite can be toxic.

Otherwise, you could remove everything and start the tank over from scratch. Would have to have a separate tank for livestock in the interim.

I suppose I'll leave it be. Love the look of the Fluval Edge, but trying to catch all the livestock in it is rage inducing.
