Maybe I am being too hard on the tank that I have - what does everyone think? I was initially not a fan of the black silicone in the corners. But the more I look at it, the more I am OK with it. Sorry for the crappy pic; it is just on a black trashcan for the picture, the stand I am going to use is not in yet.

This is my first tank, and I will likely upgrade to bigger and nicer tanks in the future - just wanted something small to get my hands wet Maybe save the extra money and put it towards the next tank, or maybe CO2 for this one if I go that way at some point.
Wait a min,

what kind of tank is this ?

Not sure. I got it from a friend who got it to use as a QT tank but didn't need it. It has a black plastic rim on the bottom that is rounded.

I started a thread in aquascaping about the driftwood selection and placement that I will keep updated (with better pics) as my tank progresses.

I saw a bunch of deep blue tanks with Albert in Long Island...the tanks are really nice with the black silicone but they don't have the black rim on the bottom, so it can't be a deep blue...nonetheless...it's a nice tank

That tank looks a lot nicer than any of mine, so you're already way ahead of me. (I still have tape bits stuck to the outside black rim in a couple of places.) Personally, I would rather spend the money on good equipment and healthy livestock than on a pretty tank. As long as it holds water and lets me see what's in it, I'm happy. Of course, I also live with a varying number of destructive critters, so I don't really do aesthetics. It's sort of a futile endeavor when I know it's just going to get chewed up.
