places for shrimp to hide
i was just wondering if shrimp like their hiding spots to be well lit. i have them in a tank right now with some tetras and they seem a little scared of them so i bought them one of those plastic reptile habitats hoping they would hide inside but its kind of dark under there. do you guys think they'll eventually go in there? im hoping this would increase the chance of them surviving when and if they mate and have fry

If they are new in the tank, they will take awhile to get used to each other. If you put a lot of plants and objects with small crevices that the shrimp can fit into, they will feel safer. Dark places are not a bad thing, just give them time and they will get curious.

I'm willing to bet your tetra will love the shrimplets in their tummy.

Yes, my tetra's ate all my babies and I have TONS of hiding places for them all. I ended up getting a shrimp only tank (I have a couple of Otos in there-they are safe) for all the shrimplets.

Cholla wood is the best place to hide for shrimp. It has holes around so they can come in and out anywhere as they please. Preferably stacks your cholla woods into a pyramid.

I've boughten plenty of cholla from people here on this forum. Just post a WTB and someone can hook you up. Or send a pm to highdesert.

Check with Neoshrimp.
Do most leave them bare or cover with moss?

I leave mine bare but put a java fern on top of the pyramid lol.
I got my cholla wood from Neoshrimp so I would recommend checking with her too (:
