20 gal Manicured Amazon

This is technically my first attempt at a more serious tank. I had a bunch of bowls and a 2.5g (and a 5g for 2 days) before getting this.

As for equipment, there's a run-of-the-mill AC30 HOB, 2x T5HO, and a modified Nutrafin CO2 (w/ double-check valve & glass ceramic diffuser). Lights on for 12 hours a day. Flourish 1-2x per week. Excel 6 days a week.

Attached is a pic of it during the first week. Second and third ones are around 5 weeks in. The plants really took off. I decided to lift the lighting up to help with algae and water changes. Did a somewhat heavy trim to the water sprite that was rapidly taking over the tank.

The red tiger lotus on the bottom left is slowly turning into a monstrosity too. Can't even see the huge mother crypt behind it anymore. I bought it with 5 leaves and now it's up to 9...

Anyway, I'd list the flora and fauna, but too lazy to type it up right now, so ask away if curious.

Wow, that is some great growth! They were all pretty large in the first shot too.. You must have some serious vitamins in your water..

Looking good

Thanks! Yeh, especially that sword in the middle too. I've had that thing for over 2 years just sitting in various fish bowls and then a 2.5g. It's been through a lot, growing and then dying depending on the season and the amount of sunlight coming in through the window over time. Once I stuck it under the T5 bulbs, it started getting massive. The largest leaf is easily 10+ inches now. It's a lot compared to the little 2" plantlet it became at one point in its life.

So I tore it all down and rescaped it because I was getting tired of having to trim the fast growing plants. Got rid of all the wisteria, water sprite, pennywort, rotala, and most of the vals.

I ended up going for a river bottom feel this time with low-lying plants. My fish seem to enjoy the swimming space now. Added a nano powerhead for some current/circulation.

Now to wait for all the dwarf sag to recoup from melting.
