That palm has been planted partially submerged for a month now. I got it at home depot, i think. I bought it as a goof and it turns out it is working pretty well. It's even getting nice , new growth. I did see your post about your plant shipment. That sucks. If you want plants that can grow emersed and petco/petsmart sells, you could always go with crypts. They will grow submerged, semi-emersed and emersed. I'll be using quite a few in my next build.
As far as coco fiber attaching, i used silicone under water in the front left, otherwise all the submerged section is titebond. On the land mass, the right side by the water feature and the hills on the left are siliconed, everything else is at least 2 coats of titebond. Hope that helps

You're awesome, thanks! Winter will be a long one thats for sure; they always are. Good thing the outdoors is always fun no matter what the season! The info is great, your tank will be an inspiration when I finally get to the finishing touches of my build. Thanks again and do keep us posted with this new build. Its fair to say your mastering the genre..............headin' out to get some crypts on your advice.

thanks for the kind words JD. and yes, the outdoors is great no matter what the weather, but man, it get's seriously freakin cold up there. that's just not right!!!LOL

This is awesome! Your frogs are so cute I love frogs! When we visit Flordia and Mississippi every summer I have a great 'ole time catching frogs. Tree frogs are my favorite

Holy cats! The Yellow Dart frog is gorgeous!!!! I'd be afraid of them though. Anything poisoness scares the crap out of me if it's too close. Just a big ole chicken I guess

no poison in captivity. the toxin they secrete comes from an amino acid that is derived from a certain type ant they eat in the wild. after about a month in captivity, no more toxins. mind you, all frogs secrete some kind of toxin, it is just very mild. i do have one frog that is rather toxic to humans. he is a rubber banded frog and if he secretes his toxin and i have a cut on my skin, it can enter and cause chest pain, heart palpitations and so on, for about 4 hours. not deadly though, unless you have a heart condition i guess. but he has to be very stressed out to secrete his toxin, and since i rarely handle my frogs, no worries

Ahhh that is quite interesting. I don't know much about frogs other than they are cute and neccessarry in places like Mississippi to keep the dang bug count down. So, I know you said you don't handle your frogs much, but has that ever happened to you with the toxin and a cut? Sounds scary.
