Please help with Madagascar Lace


I have a ML that had a stem growing out the top. What is going on with it? Flower? Seedling? This is what it looks like....

Mine does that occasionally. I always cut them off because once in flowers, the plant is done.

Does it die after flowering? I've read everywhere and no where says that. Please help me..... I don't want it to die.
