Default The unplanned 10 goes dirted

The backstory:
For Christmas I decided to set up my grandmother a 20 gallon aquarium. I had everything needed for it just sitting in my basement, which meant I could spend the actual cash on just plants and fish. I ordered plants from Crispino Labayen Ramos and Msjinkzd, both of whom just loaded me up with extras. So many that I couldn't even cram them all into the 20 gallon. I went back into the basement and found myself a 10 gallon to set up.

The setup was pretty ghetto, since I had just given away my extra Eco-Complete, all my matching driftwood, etc. This tank used to house my overbreeding desert dwarf hamsters so I didn't even have a lid. I had to use a piece of plexiglass that kept bowing just to hold up the light.

This is how it looked today before I got around to making changes (pictures of them tomorrow when the water is less cloudy). Yes I am too dumb/lazy to figure out how to change the date on the camera

Time for a plan:
That was just ugly so this weekend I went about making some improvements. I bought a glass lid and a heater. Went down to the creek and filled up a 5 gallon bucket full of rocks just to have plenty of options. I went to Walmart to pick up some Miracle Grow Organic Choice Potting Mix so I could try my first dirted tank.

Currently it's unplanted and cloudy, but here is the rundown of equipment and what plants I'm keeping.

Light: Coralife 15w 10,000k T8 (I couldn't find 6,500k)
Filter: Finnex PX-360
Heater: Aqueon 50w
Substrate: 2 inches of MGOCPM capped with 1 inch of playsand
Plants: Cryptocoryne wendtii 'bronze', Anubias barteri 'nana;, Anubias barteri 'coffeefolia', Microsorum pteropus 'narrow'
CO2: None, although I'm debating DIY

I have a bunch of Rotalas and Hygrophilas in my high tech tank that could work in here. I might add them, but I'm actually thinking of just continuing on with what is in there so far; crypts, anubias, ferns, mosses, and (if I get ambitious) bucephalandras. My goal is to have it look nice with plenty of plants, but also keep it low tech and with low maintenance. Pictures of the new hardscape tomorrow.
