I will agree that good LFS are few and far between, but you clearly have not checked out the local fish clubs. http://www.tfsri.net/ The website is lacking, but check out one of the monthly meetings. Always an auction at the end of every meeting. The annual auctions and the regional convention auction are insane. You can get killer deals on some rare stuff. You will also find a wealth of knowledge, and once you go to a meeting or two, you will figure out who you can talk to to find specific things.

I just registered for the forums but am waiting for approval I guess. If the meetings are as good as you say they are maybe ill pay for a membership. I have given up on the lfs around here. I called every fish store within 100 miles looking for Crystal shrimp and half didn't know what I was talking about the other half didn't have them or stock them

Nope, never been there! I tend to get my stuff at Pure Paradise pets since its right down the street from me, but Critter Hut in North Kingston, that's where it's at!

That's part of downtown a good way to hall in people but there little to non parking space.
That's where I get my blackworm and other fish.

There a lot RI ppl in the hobby, just to scare to show themself.

I like the Critter Huts but I love Aqua Life. I think Aqua Life has a really good selection and have great prices on plants. We got a handful of water sprite and a mystery snail for maybe $5.00

The prices are pretty sweet! Most of the stuff is prices below four dollars, and good quality!

i went to critter hut today to check things out, eneded up spending 45$ on shrimp and plants lol! got an awesome mat of HC, some rottala wallichii and 8 cherry shrimp. i would say i like auqa life better they have a wider selection of more uncommon or wanted fish but critter hut def had an awesome selection of plants when i went today!
