If you really want to get organic and slippery, go to HD or Lowes and buy a $1.49 wax toilet gasket. It's 100% beeswax and 100% insoluble and works too! Just smush it up and put it in a yogurt or other suitable container.

I have removed it multiply times. Once the tubing with pipes are out the tank, use a hairdryer on the tubing where it connects. This will soften the tubing for removal.

When i push up i wiggle the tubing a little from side to side. If it breaks the seal at one point, the rest is that much easier. When pushing up, grab the tubing at least 6 inches away from the glass. This will allow the tubing to flex, and expand outward which is what ur trying to get it to do anyways

Thank you all for your help. Simply pushing up to break the seal did not help given that the tubing is at least 1-2 inches in. I made it work by using a combination of hair dryer and hot water but I did not only pushed up in the direction of the pipe, but also tried to 'peel' the tubing from the top (see picture) using my nails a bit to get a grip. Once the seal was broken off by letting air in from that direction, the tubing slipped out by pulling hard away from the pipe. It was tough but I hope it gets easier going forward.
