How to detach EHEIM 12/16mm tubing from glass pipes?
I am having a really hard time detaching EHEIM 12/16 tubing (the green kind) from my Do!Aqua Poppy glass pipes. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to break my expensive pipes. Shall I use different tubing?

Try hot water over the tubing(not boiling but vary hot) should help to loosen the tubing.

If worse comes to worse, just cut off the inch or so of tubing and remove the portion stuck to the glass with a razor. I've had this issue before and wouldn't risk breaking the glass pipes just to remove a cheap ruber hose. Be careful, the glass is quite fragile depending on how you hold it when pulling and twisting.

Don't pull that's how too many people break them, push upwards towards the top to break the seal.

That's how you do it. No need for hot water or cutting. Just pretend you're putting the tubing on the pipe. Hold the tubing and pipe as closely together as you can. Push the tubing as though you're putting it on the pipe and that will break the seal. Then gently slip it off.

Razor blade. Tubing is cheap, it's silly to bust 40+ bucks worth of glass trying to save 10 cents worth of tubing.

+1 push it up first. Next time u put it together don't push the glass lily pipe all the way in only about 10cm or less, more than that u will have problems of braking the glass. I broke 3 ADA pipes already pushing it more than 10cm. Another thing the newer your pipes the more harder to remove it. The older pipes kinda gets hard and get molded to the pipes that make it easier to remove when I push up. Oh just to let u know I did do the push it up first before and the glass broke and cut me bleeding

I have it at about 3-4cm . This is a new pipe/new tubing. I don't want to keep cutting because soon I'll run out of tubing, I clean my pipes every 2-3 weeks.
Push-up to break the seal.- I tried pushing the tube up but it is not really breaking any seal. Anyone has a video showing this technique? Warm water.- I tried it before and it made it worse. It made the tubing 'glue' to the pipe and then I really had to cut. |

Cut it with a razor this time. Next time you put your tubes on, add a little Vaseline to your pipes, they will come off easier next time. And before anyone even starts the Vaseline debate, I use it on ALL of my filter seals on ALL of my tanks. Feel free to take a look through my thread at all of the plants it doesnt kill or harm in any way
