Wood airstone
Have anyone use wooden air stone within a sponge filter to creat finer bubbles?
I kept using blue mist air stone to creat micro bubble but after a while ..it getts clogg and shatter into tiny pieces when touch... I place an order for some wooden air diffuser so I can attach them to my ATI sponge filter to produce small bubble....i like them that way Do they last a long time and do you need to clean them?

I used to use them years ago if memory serves I would get about 6 months to a year out of them but I was using them for DIY CO2 not just air so YMMV.

I am looking at one as I type and in that tank I have 2 stones. One is limewood and one is an el-cheapo walmart .99 cent-er. They are blowing identical sized bubbles. The limewood was all I had at the time I grabbed it so in it went. I don't think you see a difference with them until you get into salt water, iirc. The stone diffusers clog faster though.

I've tried the wood ones. Also the glass bead ones. Plus some others over the years. Keep going back to the cheap green or blue ones. They all clog. Just resign myself to the fact that eventually I will be replacing them. Also, you can get an el cheapo that has a fine mist or coarse.

Funny you mention that....I was in Petsmart the other day. They have an end cap with Closeout stuff on it, and I spotted their display boxes of air stones @ .17 a piece on them. I bought 35 air stones for $6. I grinned.

Oh, and the limewood diffusers I get are $4 a piece, so in the long run I don't know if you'd be ahead of the game. They gunk up too, and eventually you have to chuck them.
