How long for new filter to cycle?
I put a new canister filter on my 45 gal 2 weeks ago and have been running the old HOB filter along with it. At what point can I remove the HOB?

I just did the same thing yesterday and I'm going to keep my hob on for maybe a week. did you add any media from the old filter to the new filter? I imagine that'd help but either way 2 weeks seems like more than long enough

I did float some sponges in the old filter for a few days and then transfer them to the new one, not sure if that did anything or not.

Weeks to months depends on your tank and temperature. Not all tanks are the same.
