Question

Flag Fish owners - Give me some help please

I bought 6 juvenile American Flags about 2 weeks ago, and they're healthy and happy in their 15 gallon quarantine/nursery. They are all in the 1" range, give or take a mm or two. They also appear to be all females.. Is it too early to differentiate them sexually though? I see 2 of them in what looks to me to be a mating dance occasionally, with one passing the other and then stopping, and hugging close while backing up to stay abreast. The reason I think they're all females is because they have the colored dot on their dorsal fins, and except for 1 or 2 that have a checkered pattern, are all the same greenish grey.

Thanks for any insight you can give me into these fascinating fish!

Cheers

Juvi Jordanella will all have the spot on their dorsal fin, as they mature it will fade away on the males.

Yea, I thought I had read that somewhere but you think I could find it again? :-)

Thanks - I will leave them where they are and pair them out as soon as I can tell heads from tails.
