Yep, its 123 Elizabeth Street, so it's close to Pacific. Be sure to give both a look!

Hey guys, I've been doing a lot of browsing around 8th ave. and chinatown lately. I found that a place on BK 8th and 4x St. has EXTREMELY cheap db pro tanks! $16 for the 5 gallon and a few dollars more for the 3 gal long. I cross my fingers that there will be any in stock left after I post this :x

There seem to be 3 stores pretty close to each other in that area.

King Fish Aquarium & Pet Supply : average selection of f/sw livestock lots of nano off-brand equipment which included some deep blue models in stock. They seem to be very big on plastic plants. Reef Aquarium : average selection of f/sw livestock ; carries premium betta fish Royal Aqua World : had dwarf shrimp, plants, more exotic FW livestock. If you only had time to goto one shop int he area, i'd visit Royal Aqua as the other two don't seem to differentiate themselves from all of the common LFS in the NYC area. Near Reef Aquarium (on the same side of the street) there were a few interesting flower shops. Large pots of Pothos sold for $3 ea.

As per a recommendation - I started a new thread for this: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...35#post2080835
[I am planning on setting up my first planted tank in the coming weeks. I am new to the metro area - living in Yonkers and working in the Bronx. I couldn't find it on a search of this thread - but do you guys have a list of the really nice LFS in the city and maybe Westchester County that I could visit for inspiration.] Last edited by rozdaboff; 11-16-2012 at 05:50 PM.. Thats a good idea...maybe there should be an edited first post or sticky with a list of worthwhile stores- I dont have addresses but others can fill you in, theres about 5 stores around the LES... some in queens... and some in brooklyn.

That would warrant a new thread for upkeeping and possibly rating on lfs? adding addresses and even google map pinpointing?
This thread serves to list new stock as they are seen and its probably better we curb out "general purposing" of all threads as we tend to do. teeheehee

I would try to make your own tank with similar dimensions if you want a tank that size without a rim on it. |
