why are cherries being so still
i went to look at my cherry tank to find them being very still in their tank. some were moving about but for the most part, a majority of them were just kind of standing there. about an hour or to prior, most of them were swimming around and stuff. i checked the water and everything seems normal nitrite are 0 and ammonia is 0. could it just be that they're asleep? do they even sleep?

I think they might be sleeping. Whenever I turn the light on in the morning, a few get startled; most of the others remain motionless until they wake fully in 10 mins or so.

Shrimp don't sleep.
Do you have a sponge filter, air stone, something going? I've found, at least for myself, lack of O2 has caused my shrimp to have that suspended animation effect.

Has the tank temperature dropped recently? My fire red tank in my basement is at low 60s nowadays (no heater) from mid 70 in the summer, for the first little while (about a month) they were less active. Now they are used to it, they are more active and breeding again.

Did you check your nitrates too?

Do you have a heater in the tank? if so, do you have a thermometer in it, too? Most heaters I've gotten have been incorrect as far as temp labeling goes. I never use a heater now without a manual therm in the same tank.

i think they were just full. i might have over fed them. they're back to normal again swimming all over the place. but i have one of those bubble wand things in the back and they love to ride in the bubbles. i also added some coral so the ph doesnt go nuts. but now my tank just looks a little eccentric
