Nope, never been to Denver. Not a bad idea, though. But we just got done with the last convention and aren't yet thinking about the next one. :-)

Curt
If there is an active strong local fish/plant club/societies near, and willing to help, then it becomes more possible.

We are currently reviewing bids from clubs to host our next convention. Location and dates will be announced when we have that information.

Cheers,
Phil

Nope. No more AGA for you. They didn't survive you.

Caton killed the AGA!

The 2015 AGA Convention, hosted by the Greater Washington Aquatic Plant Association, is being held at the Sheraton Reston Hotel in Reston, VA April 10 – 12, 2015! Once we have speakers and other events lined up, we’ll launch the 2015 AGA Convention web page and then you can register online for those events. But you can already reserve your spot at the hotel: https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book...ssociation2015 or call Central Reservations at 1-800-561-9186 and ask for Aquatic Gardeners Association 2015 room block.

WHY are we not having the convention in the fall of 2014 as usual? Well, those dates were getting kind of crowded, with the catfish convention, the Nature Aquarium Party, and now the Aquatic Experience in late October and early November. So we decided it would be more fun to participate in the Aquatic Experience in Chicago Nov 7 – 9, and host our regular awesome convention in the spring. A win-win!

Speaking of which …

The AGA will be sanctioning the Aquatic Experience Live! Aquascaping Contest November 7 – 9 at the Aquatic Experience in Chicago! There will be an on-site nano aquascaping contest as well as a large aquarium group/club contest. We’re still working out the details with the organizers, but it will be the first event of its kind in North America! You can get a weekend pass for only $89 if purchased by June 30. At 30% off regular price ($129) this is the highest discount of the year: https://www.wwpia.org/i4a/forms/index.cfm?id=402.

(Paid-up AGA members received this information in the April edition of Clippings, the AGA Newsletter. If you are a current member and did not receive Clippings, please make sure we have your current e-mail address. You can PM me.)

Darn it! I was hoping it would be on the West Coast. Would make it so much easier for me if it was in Seattle. The -other- Washington Society

Glad to hear you guys spaced it out, this year is quite crowded with conventions.

By AGA, I hope you mean the American Gastroenterological Association... Because that what google brings up when you google "AGA".

If you mean the more awesome one with plants and cool nerds, then I only made it more alive than before.

Get a local group together to host! Unfortunately, we can't hold a convention without help in the local area… quite a bit of help, which usually means a local club.

We at The Aquatic Gardeners Association are thrilled and excited to partner with The Aquatic Experience in announcing the biggest LIVE aquascaping contest to be held in North America. (Big prize money too!) Please enter as an individual, or help your local club (or you can put together a small group of friends… you don’t have to be a formal, organized club!) The AGA BOD will choose the 6 final groups to be invited to compete. Please spread the word to any individuals, groups and clubs you know who might be interested. We want this to be an AWESOME contest! :

Aquatic Experience Aquascaping Live!
Contests Sanctioned and Presented by
The Aquatic Gardeners Association

Aquatic Experience Chicago-2014 will be the host site for the first Aquatic Experience Aquascaping Competitions. Contestants are invited to compete in one of two categories (Small and Large Tank) for $3,900 dollars in prize money.

In addition to potential prize money all small tank competitors will take home a Fluval Flora Plant Tank Kit with an upgraded CO2 system…a $200 dollar retail value! The small tank contest is open to all levels of aquascapers. There is a $100 dollar entry fee to participate in the small tank contest.
Large Tank: Six teams (4-6 members per team) will compete in the large tank category for $2,000 dollars in prize money. All team applicantions will be screened by the Aquatic Gardeners Association with the top 6 receiving invitations. There is no entry fee for the large tank competition.
The contests and judging will take place on the exhibit show floor of the Aquatic Experience during show hours. The work-in-progress and award winning aquascapes will be on display for attendees to view all three day of the Show. AGA representatives will be on hand to answer questions and promote the art and science of aquatic gardening. Please review the contest Rules and Regulations for additional information:
