I live in Richmond but have family just the other side of the bridge in Maryland, so I get up there pretty regularly. I have a friend who's setting up her first tank soon and she has dibs on any extra "no-maintenance" plants like java fern, java moss, and anubias. But I have a huge surplus of staurogyne porto velho (at least that's what it was sold to me as; it's not staying particularly low, but I might be managing it wrong), and by my next visit up there, I'll probably have pogostemon erectus, mayaca fluviatilis, rotala of some kind(s) (at least some of it is colorata but mine isn't colorata-ing at the moment), and maybe some other stuff, if you're interested in any of that.

Hey Ryan, the GWAPA meeting this month is a week early up at That Fish Place in Lancaster, it is a joint meeting with the fish club up there. I'm sure you could find someone to carpool with. It's a great way to get rid of extra plants and to pick up new species. All while hanging out with a bunch of plant geeks.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

Is Lancaster the closest meet up like that, or just the best? I'd love to find some groups like that in the NOVA area (or even up to Baltimore). I'm still filling in my planted tanks, so the only thing I have for trading are platy/guppy fry. I hope one day to be overrun with plants and be able to give away cuttings.

I caught the aqua-addiction several months ago, and now my husband is becoming my partner-n-crime. So, hopefully we can find some local groups (even if it's just forums for a while). Nothing wrong with fellow addicts enabling each other.

Hi I'm new to planted tanks and am prepping:

a Fluval Spec 5 for either a male or divided for 2 female bettas

Another 5 gal for either a male or divided for 2 female

A 10 gal for a future betta sorority (I hope!).

I'd love to have local mentoring!

Am looking for java moss, java fern and other low light hard to kill plants!
