First Attempt at Emersed Growth!
So this is my first go around with some emersed plants. I decided to start with two shoebox tupperware containers. Here are the details below.
Equipment Shoebox Tupperware x2 Hagen T5HO Light 24Wx2 (appx 2 feet above tubs) Hygrometer/Temperature meter in box#1 Desk Lamp Incandescent Bulb (will possibly use these to keep tubs warm, unless someone has a better suggestion) Shoebox #1 Miracle Grow Potting Soil Anubia Nana Petite x3 Anubia Nana x1 Java Fern x2 (not sure how these will do) Cryptocoryne Wendtii (I think) x 4 Shoebox #2 Miracle Grow Potting Soil Cryptocoryne Willisii x 8 **Lights are currently on for 14hrs, off for 8 hrs **Lifting Saranwrap q1-2 days, misting when required Pictures are below, let me know what you think and any suggestions! What should I be aiming for temperature wise? and Humidity as high as I can go? or is there a limit? |

Nice start. The temp can be room temp (mid 70's). Keep the humidity up but make sure to let in fresh air into your container. When the lights are off, I vent my emersed setups to get some fresh air in. If it isn't humid enough with just misting, try saturating the substrate but keep the water level below the surface of the dirt. And be sure to trim off any dying growth to prevent mold from growing. Good luck!
