I have 6 PFR and 6 normal cherries in a 65g, how long should it take them to start breeding , I cant wait to have hundreds

Tell that to the 20 adults I have in the 3 gallon tank (with well over 100 babies and juvies). For a time there it slowed and I only had 3 berried females...then it went right back up to 7 berried with no changes in the tank (no juvies being taken out or anything). But some folks have definitely noticed that to be true, just not myself.

How long have you had them? It could be quick, it could take months. Sometimes the shrimp just have to get settled and acclimated to a new tank and that can take a awhile. I have PFR's that I've had for months and just now have my first berried girl. They did stay in less than ideal conditions for a few months (too low pH). After switching them to a more appropriate home, it's been about a month and now I am seeing better colors and breeding.

To the OP...make sure to get new shrimp from other people once in awhile to add some new genetics to your stock. Certain others would be willing to even trade shrimp for that purpose.

about a month now , they were tiny babies when i got them , they are pretty big now , I'm hoping to see berries soon

If you are refering to my tank you can take a look in my shrimp rack build thread it is a 20L with half of it packed full of Java moss, Taiwan moss, and fissidens and I mean packed. I have 2 crypts in it and the top is almost cover in floaters of DWL and frogbit. My canister needs a new impeller, so it is just running on a AC30 right now. I have FSS in it. Water conditions about PH6.8 to 7.2 GH5 KH 1-2 TDS all over the place 150-240 Depends on what water I have left over after the special tanks get water changes. I feed bebi and stout I think I am going to take a day off to pull the 100 ram shores in it. I barley tend to this tank. My PFR/Fire reds are bullet proof they do not need much care.

Oh, well yeah, it usually takes a couple months to hit sexual maturity so you'll hopefully start seeing some saddles and berries soon.

Whoa! I had no idea there was such demand- that's good to know! I'll definately keep this in mind. I don't have any shipping supplies right now so it may be a while 'till I can post a "for sale" thread.

For genetic diversity, there's a store a few hours away that I visit every so often to get some nice pfr from.

Parameters:
0 Nitrate
0 Nitrite
0 Ammonia
6.8 pH
150-200 TDS

Gabez- I noticed breeding begin in about two months. You might consider adding a few more since 65 gallons is a lot of terrain for 12 shrimp to navigate. Or, perhaps you can try a breeder box so they are in closer proximity to each other.
