Hitchicker, A Shrimps Story.

When I re-scaped the last time I used my community tank to float the plants till needed. This tank has fake plants and clown puke, the kid loves it. I clean it a couple months later... (understocked over filtered and low population) I look down and BAM! A huge adult RCS that went chocolate brown with a nice tan stripe, even some baby ramshorn. Crazy... I will edit and post a pic in the morn.

An RCS that went brown?? Is this a feral shrimp (LOL) or is this an offspring of an RCS that was never red to begin with?

As it turns out she is deep red with a pink stripe! I took her out of the fish tank and put her in the shrimp tank with good lighting. Surprised she survived the community tank.

I had something like this happen to me too. A huge female went brown.

Wow......both of those dark ones are equally sweet looking! I admit I have never seen nor heard of such sporadic mutations of this kind from neos.

She is a dark brown with the light brown spot. I never had any other than red RCS. She has a batch of babies and 2 of them are brown males. Should I cull them? I finally got a good pic of her at snack time.

that surely looks like chocolate colors to me. i personally like cherry shrimp that are like that. i keep a bunch of chocolate shrimp. though i prefer the black ones more than light brown. they look like BTOE.
