This is my first tank journal, I hope I do it right!
I have about 60 - 70 RCS right now that I'm doing a breeding project with. I somehow ended up with a crapload of ugly ones and only one bright red female, one decent female, and the rest are bad. So as my population grows I'm going to start weeding out ugly ones(snacks for my Geo's!) and keeping high quality ones, hopefully after some time I'll have a nice dark red population. I always feel the need to be doing something with my fish, so this breeding project is a good alternative to setting up another tank I really don't need!
I'm also using this tank as a place to grow up baby plants for my larger tanks, where they won't be just burried by sifters or picked at by the Angels and their tankmates.
Sand is Black Diamond Sandblasting Sand. Low-tech tank...Aqua Tech 5-15 power filter with big sponge over the intake, the hood/light is just one I bought from Petsmart. I think it's Aqueon brand...It does a nice job of making the tank look bright and pretty.
Here's the substrate in. I have one piece of driftwood that'll sink now, but the other won't yet. The breeders net was just holding some Java Fern leaves that had tiny plantlets on them.
