Crazy Co2 with SunLight!?
I've been noticing my diy co2 gives off a crazy amount of gas release when its stationed next to a window or in direct sunlight. Is anyone else experiencing this? I thought that it has to be in a dark environment, or does that only apply when making liquor? Either way it only produced maybe 1 bubble every 7-10 seconds when its dark.

I believe the productivity of the yeast/sugar solution is affected with increased temperatures, the yeast is simply more active at higher temperatures it just produces more CO2. Being in the sun is probably warming it up.

That was what i thought at first too, so i put the co2 bottle in a cup with warm water to see what happen. It did produce a little faster bubble (1 bub every 5-6 sec), but nothing like when the sun hit it directl; i was getting like 4-5bps. Maybe something else is happening & not co2 production? any idea?

Yeast is a fungus that digests sugar, it creates ethanol in the anaerobic conditions we use it in, ethanol and CO2.

The container will capture a lot more heat in the direct sunlight and it is constant, a cup of warm water started cooling right away and then when you added the bottle to the cup it cooled by more than 50% in the first 30 seconds. I pretty sure the sunlight is your problem.

I put my 2 liters in a 10g with the heat cranked up it worked great. You get more co2 but you need to remake your solution weekly.
Now I have pressurized it works much better lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Could it be the ethanol vapor that is being release instead of co2 considering that alcohol evaporate faster under heat/sunlight? The reason i asked, is because i don't see any bobbles rising in the bottle like how it looked when you make a fresh batch of co2.

it could be alcohol vapor instead of co2 & don't know how good that might be for your pets.

Lolz! btw do you know of a good batch mixture? Mine is only getting 1bubble per 7second first day then died off at the end of the week around 12-15sec?
mixture ingred: 1 Liter bottle 3/4 fill luke warm water 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 tsp baking 1/4 baking Yeast I been researching a lot & done everything to the T's, but some people are claiming that they get 1-2bps and lasted about 2-3wks, how is this even possible? |

You should try to run two yeast reactor bottles and connect the to the same input airline. That was your production will be more stable, especially when one of the bottles becomes low on sugar.

I thought this was common knowledge? over the winter periods here as I read about, anyway I ran my DIY CO2 stood in a bucket of water with a heater in to keep a constant flow (had the nice side effect of having tank heat ready water that had been stood come water change time) as otherwise it just stopped producing CO2
