Is Aqadvisor correct on this? (5 gallon hex stocking)
I have a 5 gallon eclipse hex that I wanted to set up to contain just a few guppies and maybe a couple of shrimp. Aqadvisor says that my 5 gallon hex is 204% stocked with only three guppies, is this accurate? I have a 10 gallon Aqueon on it and I thought that surely it could handle three guppies. I do not plan to mix male and female in this tank, just in case you were wondering lol. Thanks in advance for any advice.

you should be fine, taller tanks arent good as good at doing their job as long ones. However, planted and maintained, there shouldn't be any worries.

i wouldn't add guppies to a five gallon tank at all, they're pretty zippy swimmers and they do better with more room. better choices would be a betta and only a betta, or shrimp... or you could do some nano fish like microrasboras. guppies might suffer in that setup.

Betta fish usually look depressed in anything less than a 5.5 or 10 breeder tank. They need stimulation from their environment. Guppies are happy with little more than a couple buddies. |

The guppies I'm being gifted with are Red Delta guppies lol. I was thinking about putting three fish in this tank and then maybe 4 ghost shrimp or something. Alternatively I suppose I could just use the 5 gallon to house the fry as they grow up.

It seems to me like three little fishes could get along well enough in that tank.

Now that I look at it, I might be better off with only one, maybe two, little tiny shrimp and a fish or two.

The website is a good base level start. There are a few things that dont work well with it, and nanos are one of them. My fluval flora is packed with fish according to the aqadvisor, but in reality loking at it , it is really pretty sparsely stocked. Everything is healthy and growing as well as breeding in the tank.
