i keep a colony of b. dubia.
easiest thing in the world. keep dog food in their constantly, and some water crystals for moisture, add half an apple or orange every now and then, and thats it. just keep their temps right and your good.

dubia roaches are like the bastard child of all roaches. unlike their german cousins, they dont fly, they cant climb smooth surfaces, and they cant even flip themselves over if they happen to end up on their backs. the only time i ever see my roaches die is either old age or when they get out of the cage,usually when the cat manages to find a way into it. she likes to play with them....

i usually find them flipped over somwhere in various degrees of dehydration. often the only sign of life will be their antennae waving around, and they still manage to recover when placed back upright with their head in some water.

I'd love to do this for my ACF's is there anything they eat that can be grown? I know they'll eat crickets but you need to break off their legs or something. I'm looking for a little less messy work for the wife and pet sitter.

i raise fruit flies, several species of spring tails and dwarf isopods.

I keep a dubia colony and they are great. I feed them to my tarantula and mantises. Fish like them too. It is a little bit gruesome, but I use a scissors to (starting from the head) snip the roaches into small pieces that the fish can take.

I culture ghost shrimp, guppies, daphnia, hair algae, saltwater spirulina, floating single celled algae, microworms, brine shrimp. All low maintenance and high sustainability. Most of it is in the same 2-3 tanks too!

I don't have a camera nor a phone. Why would you want to see single-celled algae? It's literally just green water with floating bits of green.
