Suggestions for a 55g Dirted Tank
Greetings to everyone Pretty much my first post here after lurking in the shadows for the last few months, now on to my main question(s).
I'm about 2 - 4 weeks away from setting up a 55G Dirted tank all depends on how soon I can get to building my stand and setting up my lighting. I plan on having medium to high light in the tank once the light's are completed (2 power compact 50/50 10k/actinic bulbs with additional light from 16 3w leds 6k-6500k). Substrate will be Miracle grow capped with either flourite black sand, black diamond blasting sand, or Pool Filtration Sand really leaning towards the black sand merely from an aesthetic perspective. From everything I've read on dirted tanks so far I won't need CO2 injection for the first 6 months to a year. I will need it at some point and have a plan in the early stages to address that situation when I get to that point.
Right Now I'm kinda stuck on what plants to put in this tank. I had a planted tank that did really well almost 10 years ago but after moving several times kids and other life obligations I find myself starting over again almost from nothing. I've had experiential with water sprite (grew like a weed), Cabomba, the ubiquitous Amazon Sword, banana plants, a red plant of some type and a few others whose names escape me at the moment. I also had a DIY CO2 setup in a 29G tank I dosed ferts as well. I'm looking for suggestions on what plants I can keep in this tank. I like the nice dense carpeting plants but not quite sure if I'll have any luck with them.
It's 5 am and i'm rambling... But any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
